Fantasy Football: Outside the Box – Volume 5

Thank you!

It’s that time of year where we give thanks for our victories and reflect on our defeats over the past 12 months. We set goals for the New Year and everyone starts off with a clean slate.  Having won several fantasy football leagues this year, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that supported me during the championship run.

Dez Bryant, I salute you sir. Much has been made of your antics, but this year you rose to the challenge and elevated yourself to the next level of superstardom. In the last six weeks of the fantasy season, you scored a jaw dropping 10 touchdowns and carried me to victory. You played through injuries, but I never doubted you.

Drew Brees, you are my rock. Everyone loves to talk about Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and even Cam Newton, but I will take you every time.  You are my MVP.  You are as consistent as they come and got me 49 points in the semifinals and 61 points in the finals. My appreciation dates back several years as 2012 was my third championship in as many seasons, and I will never forget you.  Thank you, sir.

Most importantly, I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank the true heart and soul of my team – the waiver wire.  Thank you waiver wire. I say it every year that no one truly appreciates you the way I do.  Let all of these pompous fantasy owners revel in the false sense of security in their teams because I will take your grit and fight any day. This year you brought me treasures such as Knowshon Moreno, Vick Ballard, and Danario Alexander, all of whom started on my team in the league’s Super Bowl.  But there was more.  You also brought me countless other gems I relied on during the season such as Jonathon Dwyer, Dwayne Allen, Lerod Howlings, and Anthony Hawkins.  I took a lot of risks on draft day, many of which were not well received by my fellow league members and pundits in the industry.  In fact, my team was voted Worst Team in the League at the beginning of the year.  However, thanks to the waiver wire, I dominated that league.  We really showed them, didn’t we?

Enjoy the NFL playoffs and feel free to ask any questions if you are doing a postseason fantasy football league by finding me on Twitter @FFAdvisorapp.
